Utah is not in full support of a health care fight

Attorneys General Mark Shurtleff has been making news since Sunday. He is one of at least 10 who are banding together; Alabama, Florida, Nebraska, North Dakota, Pennsylvania, South Carolina, South Dakota, Texas, Utah and Washington. This is a good sign for those supporting a defense against further federal usurpation of power.

While this is going on, while the attorneys general take the fight to the courts what can we do? We can cheer, we can write and call in support of the efforts, we can wait to see what the final ruling will be, and we MUST dig in deep so we are prepared to talk with neighbors about the issue. Look around this state and you will see there are many upset over this stance against usurpation. A number of our citizens do not believe the federal government is the wrong level as there is a distrust or disconnect between the state and local government when it comes to protecting life, liberty, and property.

From what I was told there were three times as many protestors supporting health care this past Saturday at Rep. Matheson’s office. When I spoke with one patriot the background noise was loud and there was a lot of shouting going on. We can easily shout at one another on the opposite ends of understanding when it comes to these events yet is shouting the answer when our neighbors do not understand?

Their belief in federal care is a symptom of poor education. Who will we rely upon to educate them moving forward? Franklin Pierce wrote, in the preface to his 1908 Federal Usurpation, “Surely the importance to the individual man an, to our country of the preservation of liberty justifies a discussion of the present danger from usurpation of power.” Our neighbors need a discussion for understanding what may appear good, when given to government, often turns bad. So support the lawsuits, cheer on those willing to defend, yet strive to educate yourself, family, and neighbors so future fights will bring more to the side of freedom.
